Reading.
Open a Read from Home or from your Library. It opens in the Reader, at the chapter you were last in.
Chapters and your place
A Read is divided into chapters. Mark a chapter complete when you finish it and move on to the next; you can go back to any chapter from the chapter list. Grayy saves your place and the chapters you have completed as you go, so a Read continues where you stopped, on any device you sign in on.
If you lose your connection, the Reader says so. Your place is saved again when you reconnect.
Reading appearance
Reading settings change the theme (light, sepia or dark), the text size, the line spacing and the width of the text. They apply to every Read and are saved to your account, so they follow you to another device.
Sources
A Read cites the passages it draws on. Open a citation to see the source behind it, and open the list of sources to see everything the Read relied on. If a source does not support what the Read says, report it from the Reader’s menu.
Other things you can do
- Search within the Read you have open.
- Bookmark a Read so it is easy to find in your Library.
- Highlight a passage or write a note. See Notes and highlights.
- Where your account has it, ask Grayy about the chapter or a passage you have selected: to go deeper, to put it simply, or to define a term.
- Where your account has it, download a Read to keep reading without a connection. A download is protected by a passphrase you choose and is kept on that device only.
Keyboard shortcuts
These work inside a Read, while no panel is open and you are not typing in a field.

- Shift + S: bookmark the Read
- Left arrow: previous chapter
- Right arrow: next chapter, once the current one is marked complete
- Esc: close a panel
