Notes and highlights.
Notes and highlights are yours. They stay with the Read they were made in and with your account, and nobody else sees them.
Mark a passage
In the Reader, select some text inside a single paragraph. A small set of actions appears: highlight the passage, add a note to it, or copy it. A passage can carry a highlight, a note, or both. Select a marked passage again to edit its note or remove the highlight.
Write a note on a chapter
Each chapter can also have a note of its own, for what you took from it. At the end of a Read this becomes your final note.
Find them again
- In the Reader, Notes and highlights lists everything you marked in that Read and takes you back to the passage.
- In your Library, the notes view gathers notes and highlights across all your Reads, and can be searched.
Saving
A note or highlight is saved to your account when you make it, so it needs a connection. If you are offline, the Reader tells you, and nothing is saved until you reconnect. A Read you downloaded for offline reading is the exception: what you mark is kept on that device and sent when you are back online.
Who can use them
Grayy does not use your notes or highlights to shape your Reads unless you allow it. The two switches are in Personalization, and both start off. Notes and highlights are never included in a problem report. They are part of the copy you can export, and they are removed when you delete your account. See Your data.
